City of Friendship
A TOTAL SCHOOL
Chimbote, on the northern coast of Peru, is a city marked by the daily struggle of thousands of families who have migrated from the highlands in search of a better future. Many live in makeshift settlements without access to drinking water or sewage systems, surrounded by poverty. Children grow up amid sand and uncertainty, often alone while their parents work long hours to make ends meet.

But the need remains. Every act of support, every donation, and every helping hand is vital so that more children can dream of a different future. Chimbote reminds us that, although poverty is harsh, the generosity and commitment of those who help can transform lives and restore hope where it is needed most.

Amid these hardships, solidarity has sparked a beacon of hope. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Peruvian and Italian volunteers, led by Father Ugo and Operation Mato Grosso, kindergartens and a secondary school have been built, now providing education, nourishment, and a safe haven to hundreds of children and young people who once had nothing.
